Under 3

Birth – 3 Years

Embracing your child’s individuality while nurturing ways to explore a deep and meaningful understanding of the world around them.

3 Programs 3 Ways

NIDO – The Nest

Age: 3 months to 18 months

Imagine time together with your child without everyday interruptions and pressures. Imagine time to observe and learn from talented educators who are trained in the fine art of child development. Imagine a beautifully prepared environment that is just right for your child to explore their world. That’s the magic of the NIDO program at Forestville Montessori School.

You will gradually be able to step back and watch how your child interacts with the specially-prepared space. Staff readily answer any questions and provide carefully considered information regarding parenting such as teething; feeding; sleep; separation anxiety and toileting.
It’s a learning time and a social time for you and your child, concluding happily with music each visit.

Our Parent & Child Program

Age: 18 months to 3 years

Imagine accompanying your child to a program designed to capture his or her interest and cater for their need for order, movement and language. Imagine a carefully prepared environment that entices your child to interact with activities designed around Practical Life (care of the environment and self), Art and Music, and Language.

Imagine your child exploring hands-on activities that:

  • Allow for repetition
  • Aid development of concentration
  • Offer fine and gross-motor development opportunities
  • Assist refinement of movement
  • Develop will by offering choices
  • Facilitate independence

It’s a learning time that begins to assist your child in his or her independence.

Session Times:
Tuesday 9:15am - 11:30am
(approximately 10 week term)

Our Toddler Community

Age: 2 – 3 years

And now for the next step, a program where the children attend without their parents (or caregivers). How can this be possible? It’s possible because our Toddler Community is an emotionally predictable and stable environment based on order. We call it a ‘community’ as spending time as a regular group creates a sense of belonging, with children coming together each day forming bonds and learning to co-exist in a group setting.

Our environment is organised into five areas: practical life, language, fine-motor activities (which we call manipulatives), self-expression and gross motor.

It's a learning time where expertly guide children to grow pathways in the areas of movement, language, independence, emotions and socialisation.

Session Times:
Students attend 3 days a week: Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Half day: 8:30am - 12:00pm | Full day: 8:30am – 3:45pm
(approximately 10 week term)
